Music Each week Mozart students attend music classic. There, they learn basic music skills and prepare for our two yearly performances -- one in the winter and the other in the spring. Beginning in first grade, music class includes an introduction to basic recorder and music-reading skills.
Music is taught by Ms. Foster -- a talented musician in her own right -- who divides her time between the Mozart and Philbrick Elementary Schools.

Making Music Matters Making Music Matters! is a course of instrumental instruction for third, fourth and fifth graders that provides 30 weeks of group instrumental lessons in clarinet, flute, trumpet, and violin during the regular school day. Students demonstrate their instrument skills in a number of performances that take place throughout the year, both in school and in various community venues.
Making Music Matters! is made possible by a strong partnership among five local schools (Beethoven/Ohrenberger, Bates, Conley, Philbrick and Mozart Elementary Schools) that applied for and received grant funding through the BPS Arts Expansion Initiative. Its continued success is due to the hard work of our parent coordinators and to the talented teachers who believe in the power and importance of music education.
Visual Art Classes As one of the Mozart School's partners in Arts Education, the Eliot School of Fine & Applied Arts provides instruction in visual arts and woodworking classes to all Mozart students during the school day. Students learn how to use both art and woodworking tools, combine observation and imagination, and make objects that are both utilitarian and decorative.
This program is a part of the Roslindale Arts Initiative that focuses on the inclusion of visual arts into the core education of all BPS elementary and middle school students in Roslindale. The Mozart program is partially funded by the Linde Family Foundation and by the Arts Expansion Initiative of EdVestors.
Works of art are displayed around the school and at Roslindale Open Studios events.
